While in law school, Jeremy had the honor of serving as an articles editor for the Southern Illinois University Law Journal.  This is a prestigious honor enjoyed only by a few law students for each class. Jeremy also graduated in the top ten percent of his law school class.

Experience

Jeremy’s first job out of law school was at the Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office. Jeremy served there as an assistant state’s attorney. In 2008, Jeremy opened his own law office in Charleston. He remained in private practice until he took office as the Moultrie County State’s Attorney on December 1, 2012.  Jeremy is currently serving his second term as Moultrie County State’s Attorney.

Jeremy is very active in the Illinois State Bar Association.  In addition to sitting on the section council for ISBA’s Traffic Law & Court Section, he also lectures at ISBA continuing education seminars for other lawyers.  He instructs other lawyers on DUI and traffic issues.

Personal

Jeremy grew up in Coles County in the small town of Ashmore, which has a population of less than 800.  He is a life-long resident of Central Illinois.  He currently resides in rural Sullivan.  Jeremy is a fan of baseball and auto racing.  Jeremy currently attends Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL.
