Welcome to my election website. My name is Jeremy Richey and I am running for state’s attorney. For my entire legal career, I have concentrated in criminal, traffic, and DUI law. I have experience as both a prosecutor and a defense lawyer. Before I started my own criminal defense legal practice, I was an assistant state’s attorney in Coles County. I have handled everything from complicated and serious felony cases to simple traffic tickets. I have also handled juvenile cases, child support enforcement cases, county ordinance violation cases, and county small claims cases. In short, from day one, I can hit the ground running handling every aspect of the job that the state’s attorney performs.
I am also a trial lawyer. Not all lawyers are trial lawyers and some lawyers who call themselves trial lawyers have never stood before a jury. I have stood before juries in cases ranging from serious felony drug cases to simple misdemeanor cases. As your state’s attorney, I will not be afraid to try cases that need to go to trial.
My tagline states what kind of state’s attorney I will be. The people of Moultrie County deserve a state’s attorney of the highest quality. This is because justice, courage, and common sense matter.
